hey guys yesterday i went to the arcade and one of the prizes i won was a mini art set. it came with pastels water color paint and a few other things. anyway im wondering other then paper what else can you paint with water colors? and do you think pastel would turn out ok on a wood frame(its a regular wood frame thats normal color so ya). any info on water colors and pastels would be great thanks.
thanks, im not really all that great of a painter, but i do like to in my spare time like to paint, picture frames jewelerry boxes etc. im not a very talented painter so i wont do a self potrait or none of that
A lot depends on the quality of the paints. If they seem watery and cheap when you try them out on paper, dont despair- you can paint things like fruit or shells in light, delicate tints, then when dry, draw lines in with something bolder like lead or coloured pencil, or ballpoint pen. Or do a drawing with wax crayon and paint with watercolour tints over it, so that the wax shows through. If you're lucky enough to have paints of a fine quality- if the colours are deep and rich, stretch a piece of good paper by soaking it with cold water, then use brown paper sticky tape to stick it to a smooth wooden board, and whilst it's drying, enjoy trying out combinations and mixes of your new paints on scraps of paper, writing notes to remind you how to make the good ones. When your main paper is dry, it's ready for you to do your best work on; you could paint a view from a window, or a self- portrait. I draw the faintest outline with pencil, or with light watery brown and a little brush. You may want to copy another artists picture at first, or work from a photo. Good luck, happy painting!!
